If you came into GEAR:30 and asked any employee what their favorite piece of clothing is, there’s a good chance the product that they mention is made by prAna. This is for no other reason than their stuff fits well, looks good, and is functional for our favorite outdoor activities. And this is by design. Let me explain . . .
In 1992, Beaver and Pam Theodosakis started prAna out of their garage. They were in need of better-functioning and more stylish climbing and yoga apparel and wanted to make it in a way that did not compromise their values. So, they sewed their own apparel for a while until they grew big enough that they had to source their labor from elsewhere.
Throughout their history, prAna has made it a priority to make their products in as environmentally and conscientiously responsible manner as possible. Many, if not most of their products are Free Trade Certified or Bluesign Approved or Recycled or Organic or, well, you get the idea. Not only do I like most of Prana’s products, it’s nice to support a company that is doing their best to be responsible and give back.
Here are a few of our favorite prAna products for men and women. If you are not familiar with these products, I would encourage you to come in and check them out. You won’t be disappointed.
-Women’s Apparel –
Women’s Halle Pant – According to my wife, these are the best hiking and travel pants ever made. She now has three colors and wears them for almost every outdoor activity. The only other pants I ever see her wear are the prAna Kara Jean (when we’re going out to eat) or the prAna Bliss Knicker (when it’s super hot out). The fabric is breathable, durable, and stretchy and the cut is very flattering.
Women’s Yoga Pants and Leggings – Most women that are familiar with prAna apparel know their yoga pants and tops. This is where the brand started and they are still one of the best. Our best-selling yoga pants are the Ashley legging and Roxanne capri. We have the Ashley leggings in the basic solid colors (black and charcoal) and the Roxanne leggings in fun prints. They are thick enough and have enough compression to give good shape and add modesty, but not so thick that they are to warm or impede movement.
Women’s Kara Jean – These may be the most comfortable denim skinny jeans you will ever wear. They have loads of stretch so they fit a wider range of leg types and have a flattering cut that shapes and slims. They are perfect for all seasons when paired with boots or flats.
Women’s Yoga Tops – Like the Yoga Pants, prAna’s yoga tops are what put them on the map and made them one of the most popular brands in the industry. prAna designs these tops with top-quality materials and stretch and move and silhouettes that flatter shoulders and backs without showing too much. Below is the Mika Top.
Jasmine Knicker – I think every female employee at GEAR:30 owns a pair of Jasmine Knickers. They are cute, comfortable, and are as happy at the crag or on the trail as they are out on the town. The fit is relaxed while still being flattering.
Bliss Knicker – These are my wife’s favorite summer shorts. Their knee length provides modesty while lightweight fabric keeps things cool. If you like knee-length shorts, these are some of the best I’ve seen. My wife bought her first Bliss Knicker three years ago and they still look as good as new. She now has two other colors.
Men’s Axiom Pant – The prAna Axiom pant is what all denim pants should be. They are stretchy, have a gusseted crotch, and are stylish. No more blowing out seams or uncomfortable binding.
Men’s Stretch Zion Short – The men’s Stretch Zion Short is the most popular men’s short we’ve ever carried. The fabric is a cotton/nylon/spandex blend that is comfortable and wicks well, is durable, stretchy, and comfortable. I have had a pair of Stretch Zion Pants (same as short, just longer) that I have owned for over five years and they are still in great shape. These are perfect on the trail or out on the town and come in a variety of colors.
